Product information "Google Sitemap Professional for Shopware 6"
Sitemaps for multilingual shops and large catalogs
Google Sitemap Professional for Shopware 6 generates XML sitemaps per sales channel and domain and lets you control which content is included, how it is prioritized and how often it changes, down to the individual page and domain.
Shopware's standard sitemap covers the typical case. As soon as several languages, several domains or very large product catalogs come into play, that is often no longer enough: hreflang information is missing, variants create unwanted URLs, and the file becomes unwieldy. This is exactly where the plugin comes in.
Your advantages with Google Sitemap Professional
- Clean signals for multilingual shops: Connect sales channels via hreflang, set x-default and the default language, assign different locale codes such as de-AT.
- Control over the scope: Exclude content types, domains or individual products, categories and landing pages, prioritize important content, set the change frequency per content type or per record.
- Every domain controllable on its own: Decide per page on which domains it appears in the sitemap and as an hreflang alternative, even for two domains in the same language.
- Variants without URL sprawl: Either one URL per variant or one consolidated URL per product; variants with a different canonical product are left out.
- Images in the sitemap: For products, manufacturers and blog posts, the addresses of the assigned images are included.
- Manageable even for large catalogs: Automatic splitting based on a configurable URL limit, dynamic or static output.
- Generation when it suits you: Via CLI command, scheduled task or live when the sitemap is requested, including through your own cron jobs.
Features at a glance
Sitemaps per sales channel and domain A separate sitemap is created for every sales channel and every domain – the basis for international setups with separate country shops.
Sitemap index with sub-sitemaps Instead of a single file, a sitemap index is created with sub-sitemaps per content type: home page, categories, products, shop pages, landing pages and blog posts (SasBlog).
hreflang and language switcher The plugin connects sales channels that share the same default domain via hreflang, in the sitemap and in the source code of every page. In addition, there are x-default, the default language and different locale codes per domain. You can change the order of the language switcher, hide individual domains and give them your own flags; more than 250 country flags are included. If a product is missing in the target language, the language switcher can lead to the home page instead of a 404 page.
Exclusion per page and domain On products, categories and landing pages, you select the domains that do not include a page in their sitemap and the domains that do not appear as an hreflang alternative – in the sitemap and in the storefront. With the hreflang exclusion, the page itself stays in the sitemap. Because both fields store domains rather than a yes/no value, two domains in the same language can be controlled separately.
Product variant control You decide whether each variant gets its own URL or whether one consolidated URL is output per product. Variants whose parent product points to a different canonical product are not written to the sitemap.
Priority and change frequency Both values can be set per content type or directly on individual products, categories and landing pages. If a record is set to "inherited", it takes the value from the plugin configuration.
Splitting, output and timing The sitemap is split automatically based on a configurable URL limit, and the plugin also checks the file size. We have tested it with up to 1 million products and 100,000 categories. Output is dynamic or static; generation runs via CLI command, scheduled task or live when requested. You can limit the CLI command to one sales channel or one domain.

Google Sitemap FAQ
For each sales channel and domain, an index sitemap is created that refers to partial sitemaps for each content type: home page, category, product, shop page, landing page and blog post (SasBlog). You decide per sales channel which of these partial sitemaps are generated. For products, manufacturers and blog posts, the assigned image URLs are included as well. For large catalogues, the sitemap is split automatically based on a configurable URL limit, by default at 49,999 URLs per file.
On two levels. Globally, you set both values in the plugin configuration for each content type. On the individual record, you use the custom field set “Google Sitemap Professional”, which is created for products, categories and landing pages during installation; for products it is located in the “Specifications” tab. By default it is set to “inherited”, so every entry follows the global setting until you set a different value.
For each domain, you specify whether it counts as the default language domain and, if required, assign a different locale code such as de-AT. For URLs without x-default or without a default language, the domain can be chosen automatically according to a language priority. You can hide individual domains from the hreflang list or from the language switcher; the language switcher can also be sorted in your own order and given custom country flags, and the plugin comes with over 250 flags.
That is up to you. The options are a scheduled task, generation live when the sitemap URL is called, and the CLI command bin/console sitemap:generate for your own cron jobs, optionally restricted to one sales channel or one domain. After installation, the update method is set to “Manual” by default.
